Often times, when some people get their tattoos– they also get their coffee from their favourite cafe or one located conveniently next to their tattoo parlour. A hot coffee means business, and cold coffee is for pleasure, but either way, a tattoo is your business and something for pleasure.
Coffee and tattoos are simply a match made in heaven, and this is how it all started.
When our founder, Deepak Shukla, started to build and operate several cafes around North End Road and Marylebone, he got immersed in making the business thrive. So, alongside the talented baristas he hired, he served people too.
While serving various people from all walks of life, he encountered tattoo artists and people who were about to get a tattoo or had just finished getting a tattoo. During conversations with these people, he got that nostalgic feeling of when he was getting tattoos himself and getting coffee before or after it.
Deepak has a spot in his heart for body art– especially tattoos. He loves how culture, history, and meaningful symbols can all physically and permanently be part of oneself.
In fact, about 40% of his body is covered in tattoos right now. And what’s amazing is that those are tattoos from all around the world! He got one from London, Buenos Aires, Rio, Florianopolis, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Tibilisi, Lisbon, Portugal, Brighton, and many more.
If you see him travelling around, you can show him the way to the best local tattoo shop, and he’ll probably get one.
But kidding aside, as someone who has been getting tattoos for the past 18 years, he has estimated to have spent over £10,000 – £15,000 on all of his tattoos. He has also probably spent over a hundred hours or more in tattoo shops.
Given that thought, while talking to tattoo artists and tatted people who entered the coffee shop, he had an idea.
